About KYS files

The .KYS file extension stores custom hotkey bindings for Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop. These files allow video editors and graphic designers to save their personalized keyboard shortcuts, sync them across different devices, or share their workspace setup with a team. Under the hood, a .KYS file is formatted as standard XML data, mapping Adobe's internal software commands to specific keystrokes.

Despite its standard XML architecture, the .KYS format is heavily tied to the Adobe ecosystem. It requires expensive monthly software subscriptions to load and apply the settings. Users face significant disadvantages when trying to migrate these shortcuts to alternative software like DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro, because the internal command IDs are proprietary to Adobe. If you simply want to print a "cheat sheet" of your custom shortcuts, the software does not provide an easy, human-readable export feature.

The most practical conversion targets for a .KYS file are XML, TXT, or CSV. Converting to these text-based formats allows you to parse the data, read the mapped commands without Adobe software, or create a printable PDF reference guide. However, be aware that you will lose direct software functionality; a text file cannot be imported back as a functional shortcut map. Standard online converters fail to process these files because they do not recognize the proprietary extension. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your KYS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted COMMANDSET, TXT, EAP, XML, PMD, AAE, PEK, PRSL and XMPSES files.
