About KYS files
A .KYS file represents a Keyboard Shortcuts configuration, primarily generated by Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop. These files store user-defined mappings between keystrokes and application commands, allowing editors to carry their customized workflows across different workstations. While technically structured as XML, the format presents significant friction: you cannot simply double-click a .KYS file to view a printable list of your shortcuts, nor can you easily edit them outside the proprietary Adobe environment. Users frequently struggle when migrating these files between operating systems (e.g., macOS to Windows) due to modifier key differences (Command vs. Control), or when trying to back up settings without digging through hidden system folders. To make the data human-readable or printable, users often need to convert the raw XML structure into a clear TXT list or a PDF document. For archiving or manual editing of specific hex codes or command IDs, treating it as a standard XML file is the most pragmatic approach.
Convert.Guru analyzes your KYS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert KYS file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use Adobe Premiere Pro or similar software from the "Keyboard Shortcut Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to KYS, try Adobe Premiere Pro or another comparable tool in the "Keyboard Shortcut Configuration" category.
The KYS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KYS converter.
