To convert other file formats to the "UML Project File" file type, you need software like Enterprise Architect or a similar tool.
About EAP files
The .EAP file format is primarily an Enterprise Architect project file developed by Sparx Systems. It is heavily used by software engineers and business analysts to store UML (Unified Modeling Language) models, system architectures, and complex diagrams. Under the hood, a standard .EAP file is actually a Microsoft Jet database (JetDB), meaning it functions similarly to a Microsoft Access database. Additionally, the .EAP extension is sometimes used for AXIS Camera Application Packages (which are essentially GZIP compressed archives) or Adobe Photoshop Exposure Files. Users often need to convert .EAP files because they are locked inside a proprietary ecosystem. Opening an Enterprise Architect project requires an expensive software license, making it incredibly difficult to share models with external stakeholders or clients. Furthermore, because it relies on older JetDB technology, the file can grow extremely large and is prone to corruption if accessed concurrently over a network without a dedicated database server. The best conversion targets for Enterprise Architect data are .XMI for cross-platform UML compatibility, .PDF for sharing visual diagrams, or .CSV for extracting tabular requirements. However, this file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert directly outside of its native environment. Standard online converters fail because they cannot translate raw relational database tables into visual diagrams. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EAP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert EAP file to PDF, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT or DB, you can use Enterprise Architect or similar software from the "UML Modeling Project Database" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to EAP, try Enterprise Architect or another comparable tool in the "UML Modeling Project Database" category.
The EAP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EAP converter.
