Convert a file to KSD
To convert other file formats to the "Save Game File" file type, you need software like KiriKiri2 or a similar tool.
About KSD files
The .ksd extension is a "collision" format used by three distinct groups: gamers, mobile users, and music producers.
KiriKiri Game Save (Most Common): Generated by the KiriKiri2 (KAG3) visual novel engine. These are binary save files storing player progress, flags, and game state. Users often seek to convert these to JSON or Text to modify stats (save editing) or debug scripts.
KeepSafe Encrypted Image: Created by the KeepSafe Photo Vault app on Android/iOS. These are AES-256 encrypted containers holding personal photos or videos. Users typically find these after a phone transfer or app glitch and desperately try to convert them to JPG or PNG.
Warning: Because they are encrypted, standard image converters cannot open them without the original account key.
Native Instruments Massive Preset: A legacy audio setting file for the Massive synthesizer. Modern versions (Massive 1.6+ and Massive X) use the NMSV format. Producers need to convert old .KSD packs to NMSV to use them in current projects.
Common Challenges:
Encryption Lock-in: KeepSafe files appear as "broken" images in standard viewers.
Legacy Obsolescence: New audio software drops support for the old KSD format.
Binary Obfuscation: Game saves are not human-readable without hex editors or specific parsers.

The KSD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KSD converter.
