The .full file extension is heavily fragmented and does not denote a single standardized file type. Most commonly, it represents a Full-size JPEG image file generated by the GD Graphics Library or an Android video thumbnail image contained within a PNG container. In other environments, software may arbitrarily rename standard PDF documents, ZIP backup archives, or Cygwin log files to .full to indicate they are the complete, uncompressed version of a dataset. Additionally, this extension is heavily utilized in the Grand Theft Auto V modding community to store proprietary game assets like vehicle models and animation dictionaries managed by the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine and edited via OpenIV.
The primary disadvantage of this format is its ambiguity. Because .full is not a registered, universal extension, operating systems fail to associate it with the correct viewer. Double-clicking the file usually triggers an error. If the file is a proprietary GTA V asset, it requires highly specialized modding software to read. Android full scan backups might demand proprietary recovery software like DiskDigger to process correctly, completely locking users out of their data if they lack the right tools.
Converting these files to standard targets like JPG, PNG, or PDF is highly recommended to restore native compatibility.
