About KPR files
The .KPR extension represents a collision of two distinct computing eras: industrial automation and legacy open-source presentations. Most commonly (approx. 28%), it is a PLC Program Project file generated by KDT Systems software (like K-GLO) or similar industrial tools used to program press machines and roofing calculators (Krovlya Profi). These are proprietary binary containers holding logic, settings, and machine instructions. They are strictly locked to their parent software; you cannot simply "open" them in a text editor or standard viewer.
However, users seeking conversion are often dealing with the legacy KPresenter presentation file (from the defunct KOffice suite). These are essentially old slide decks - ancestors to modern ODP files - containing text, vector graphics, and layouts. The friction here is significant: modern suites like Microsoft PowerPoint do not natively support .KPR. To salvage this data, the best path is converting KPresenter files to PDF for viewing or ODP for editing using Calligra Stage. For the industrial PLC files, "conversion" is limited to exporting data reports (to CSV or PDF) from within the original licensed software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your KPR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted KVS, AUP3, MPP, MTP and LYS files.
The KPR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our KPR converter.
