The .MTP file extension is heavily fragmented and used across multiple industrial and niche applications. Most commonly, it acts as an XML-based project file for labeling software like Murrplastik M-Print PRO or Brady Workstation. In other scenarios, it functions as a compressed ZIP package for Process Automation Modules (VDI/VDE/NAMUR 2658 standard), a firmware update executable, an HMI application project, or even a Microsoft JetDB maintenance database.
Users face significant frustration with .MTP files because they are tightly locked to the specific hardware or software ecosystem that created them.
