Convert JDP to another file type
To convert JDP projects to another format, you need JDPaint or other Cad software.
Convert a file to JDP
To convert other file formats to the "Engraving Project File" file type, you need software like JDPaint or a similar tool.
About JDP files
A .JDP file primarily functions as a CAD/CAM engraving project file created by JDPaint, a highly specialized CNC routing software developed by Beijing Jingdiao Group. These files contain intricate 3D models, toolpaths, and machining instructions used to drive CNC engraving machines. Alternatively, a .JDP file acts as a John Deere Data Package. This variant is used by the John Deere Operations Center to store agricultural machinery job data, such as yield maps and tractor configurations. Rarely, the extension is associated with obsolete BlackBerry JDE Application Project files.
The primary disadvantage of the JDPaint .JDP format is its heavily closed, proprietary nature. It locks users into regional CNC software and creates massive collaboration bottlenecks. You cannot natively open or edit these files in standard industry software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks. The John Deere variant, while technically just a renamed ZIP archive, contains proprietary data structures that require specific agricultural software to interpret correctly.
Because JDPaint guards its geometry and toolpath algorithms, standard online converters fail to process these files. Users are usually forced to open the file in the original software and manually export the geometry to standard target formats like STL, DXF, or IGES. Our engine inspects the binary header to determine if your file is a CAD project or farming data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as the standard ZIP structure of John Deere files - viewing, extraction, or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your JDP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert JDP file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use JDPaint or similar software from the "CAD/CAM Project Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to JDP, try JDPaint or another comparable tool in the "CAD/CAM Project Storage" category.
The JDP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our JDP converter.
