About ISP files

The .ISP file extension is most commonly associated with PLC Program Project files created by Delta Electronics automation software, such as ISPSoft and WPLSoft. These files store the ladder logic, variables, and hardware configurations required to run industrial Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Alternatively, .ISP files function as hardware-specific Firmware Update files for Image Signal Processors used in cameras and microcontrollers by companies like Samsung and Microchip. In rare legacy instances, they contain plain-text Internet Service Provider Settings for old Microsoft systems.

Converting .ISP files presents severe challenges. PLC project files are highly proprietary, closed-source binary containers. They are designed exclusively for vendor-specific IDEs. This vendor lock-in means users face immense frustration when trying to document logic or share configurations without a heavy software installation. Firmware variants are even more rigid, acting as raw binary blobs useless outside their exact hardware target.

Because of these strict proprietary formats, standard online converters fail to process .ISP files. You typically cannot convert PLC logic to a standard format without the original IDE. For documentation purposes, the best target formats are PDF or TXT, but this usually requires opening the file in ISPSoft and printing the ladder logic.

This file format is difficult to open or convert because only the original software can properly read, interpret, or export the complex industrial automation data. Despite this, convert.guru provides a pragmatic solution. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects standard text headers, XML configurations, or supported embedded objects, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ISP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted LSP, IPS, TXT, ISPD, PDF, PRG, RPG and 8XP files.

The ISP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ISP converter.
