About FRD files

The .FRD extension is a notorious chameleon in the file world, serving multiple unrelated industries. Most technically inclined users encounter it as a Frequency Response Data file, a plain text format storing magnitude and phase data for loudspeakers and microphones, used by software like AFMG EASE. However, in business environments, it often represents a report generated by FastReport, containing proprietary document layouts. A significant portion of legacy files are also Foretell Tarot decks or PC Tools recovery logs. The primary friction arises from this ambiguity: users often try to open binary report files in text editors (resulting in gibberish) or fail to import text-based audio data into Excel due to the obscure extension.

For audio data, the best workflow is converting to CSV or XLSX for analysis in spreadsheet software. For FastReport files, the only practical target is PDF for archiving and sharing, as the native format requires specific viewer software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FRD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FRF, FR3, FDR, FRW, TXT, VTT, PROTO and KMZ files.

The FRD Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FRD converter.
