About FPR files
The .FPR extension is most frequently associated with Fortify Project Results, generated by OpenText Fortify Static Code Analyzer (formerly HP Fortify). These files act as containers - often structurally similar to ZIP archives - that bundle static code analysis data, including vulnerability descriptions, source code snippets, and audit trails in XML format (specifically audit.xml and fvdl.xml).
While essential for DevSecOps, .FPR files present significant accessibility challenges. They are proprietary containers designed exclusively for the Fortify Audit Workbench, meaning stakeholders without a license or specific software installation cannot view the security findings. Sharing these results with management or third-party auditors usually requires exporting the data. For broad accessibility, users should convert .FPR files to PDF for immutable reporting or XLSX (Excel) and XML to integrate vulnerability data into other issue trackers or dashboards. A secondary, less common use of the extension is for FastReport document projects, which similarly require conversion to PDF or HTML for web publishing and printing.

The FPR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FPR converter.
