About FF files
A .ff file is a proprietary Fast File container used extensively in the Call of Duty video game franchise (developed by Infinity Ward and Treyarch). These files bundle scripts, textures, audio, and 3D models into a single highly compressed block. This design is optimized for rapid memory loading during gameplay, preventing stuttering and long loading screens.
Officially, these files are strictly read-only by the game engine. The gaming modding community relies on specialized, community-built extraction tools like Wraith or Tom's FF Viewer to unpack the contents.
The main disadvantage of the .ff format is its completely closed and obfuscated nature. The format lacks native operating system support. You cannot simply open or browse a .ff file in Windows or macOS. Furthermore, the internal structure changes significantly between game releases; a Fast File from Black Ops 3 cannot be parsed by tools built for Modern Warfare. This makes managing and extracting assets highly frustrating for modders.
Users typically want to extract the internal contents to standard formats like ZIP, PNG, or WAV. Standard online converters consistently fail to process these files because the encryption and compression algorithms are proprietary and undocumented.
Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert FF file to CC, PF, F, JPG, EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3 or PK4, you can use Call of Duty or similar software from the "Game Asset Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to FF, try Call of Duty or another comparable tool in the "Game Asset Archive" category.
The FF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FF converter.
