About ES3 files
An .es3 file usually contains game save data generated by the Easy Save 3 asset for the Unity game engine. Developers use this format to store player progress, game settings, and local high scores. Less commonly, an .es3 file serves as a Hungarian electronic signature created by the Microsec e-Szignó software, storing authenticated document data in XML format. The main disadvantage of the .es3 format is its lack of native operating system support. Unity game saves are frequently encrypted or compressed using GZIP, making them impossible to read with standard text editors. Modders and players who want to tweak their saves face annoying roadblocks and proprietary encryption. Similarly, e-Szignó signature files require a specialized desktop application to view the cryptographic certificates and the documents inside. To overcome these limitations, you need to extract or convert the underlying data. For Unity game saves, convert the file to JSON or TXT to edit player variables, keeping in mind that AES-encrypted saves may require the original decryption key from the developer. For e-Szignó files, converting the payload to standard XML or PDF allows anyone to read the signed document. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.

The ES3 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ES3 converter.
