To convert other file formats to the "Encrypted Email Document" file type, you need software like Striata Reader or a similar tool.

About EMC files

The .EMC file is primarily a Striata Encrypted Document. Banks, telecommunications companies, and utilities use this proprietary format to send highly secure billing statements and invoices as email attachments. A rarer secondary use is as a template file for eMedia Card Designer used to design ID badges.

To open the primary encrypted document, you must install the official Striata Reader.

The main disadvantage of the .EMC format is its rigid proprietary nature. Users are forced to download and install a specialized third-party application just to view a single monthly bill. This format is not supported by standard web browsers or native operating system viewers, creating severe friction, especially for mobile users.

You should convert .EMC to PDF for long-term archiving and universal compatibility. Note that converting the file strips away the original encryption, making the document universally readable but removing its password protection.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to convert because it is protected by strong encryption (often Triple DES or AES). Standard online converters fail to process it because they lack the proprietary decryption engine and your personal password. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible on convert.guru. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your EMC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ENC, PDF, EMZ, PAGES, EMB, ECM, FPC, JPG, BIN, WFP, RPT, TSX and CRDOWNLOAD files.

The EMC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EMC converter.
