About EMC files
The .emc file is primarily a Secure Encrypted Email Document created by Striata. These files are heavily used by banks, utility companies, and telecommunications providers to send confidential billing statements or documents securely via email. To open them, users typically need the proprietary Striata Reader and an authorization password, which is usually an ID number or account code. A much smaller percentage of .emc files are templates created by eMedia Card Designer for printing plastic ID cards. The main disadvantage of the .emc format is its strict vendor lock-in. Because it is highly encrypted, standard web browsers, PDF readers, and generic email clients cannot open it natively. This forces users to download and install third-party, specialized software just to read a bill. Users usually want to convert .emc to a standard PDF, JPG, or PNG so they can easily store, print, or share the document without requiring the specialized software. Converting an encrypted .emc file is extremely difficult because the encryption actively blocks unauthorized access and data extraction. Standard online converters fail to process it. While our tool cannot bypass encryption, it can inspect the file headers and identify the exact software version.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EMC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The EMC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EMC converter.
