About EDRW files
A .EDRW file is a distinct 2D CAD format known as an eDrawing, developed by Dassault Systèmes to facilitate the sharing of design data across different CAD platforms. While highly effective for visualization, the format acts as a "digital container" that compresses and locks the original engineering data (from software like SOLIDWORKS or AutoCAD), making it proprietary and difficult to edit. Users often deal with issues because .EDRW files require the specialized eDrawings Viewer to open, rendering them inaccessible to standard web browsers or generic image viewers. Furthermore, unless the original author explicitly enabled export permissions, converting .EDRW back to editable formats like DWG or DXF is restricted, forcing users to rely on rasterized exports. To overcome these compatibility hurdles, the most practical solution is converting these files to universal formats: PDF for documentation and archiving, PNG or JPEG for web presentations, or HTML5 for browser-based interactive viewing without plugins.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EDRW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert EDRW file to DWG, PDF, DXF, STEP, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, IGES, SAT or X_T, you can use eDrawings Viewer or similar software from the "2D CAD Drawing Exchange" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to EDRW, try eDrawings Viewer or another comparable tool in the "2D CAD Drawing Exchange" category.
The EDRW Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EDRW converter.
