About DSP files

The .dsp file typically functions as a proprietary data container for spectrophotometer scans or as a project settings file for legacy IDEs like Microsoft Developer Studio. It is also heavily utilized across specialized industries for robotics programming, apparel CAD markers, sheet metal nesting, and drive parameters.

Depending on the source, these files require specialized software such as Thermo Scientific GENESYS, Jasco Spectra Manager, Optitex CAD, or ABB DriveStudio. Because the .dsp extension is highly fragmented and shared by dozens of unrelated hardware and software systems, opening it without the exact original environment is exceptionally frustrating. The files are often encoded in proprietary binary formats or rigid text structures, locking your data inside expensive, closed ecosystems or obsolete systems like Visual C++ 6.0.

If you need to extract the data, target formats depend entirely on the file's origin. Spectrophotometer data should be exported to CSV or XLSX for scientific analysis. Legacy code projects can be migrated to modern VCXPROJ files or viewed as plain TXT. In some edge cases, systems like Apache FOP generate standard PDF reports with a .dsp extension by mistake.

This file format is difficult to open or convert because standard online tools cannot parse the specific data arrays or industrial configurations used by the original hardware. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as UTF-16 text from ABB drives or an embedded PDF - viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DSP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DSPS, MP3, DSW, PSD, DPS, PNG, DST, PDF, JPG, MP4, TXT, DSF and ZIP files.

FAQ

If you want to convert DSP file to VCXPROJ, SLN, JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB or GO, you can use Microsoft Developer Studio or similar software from the "Instrument Data & Project Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to DSP, try Microsoft Developer Studio or another comparable tool in the "Instrument Data & Project Storage" category.

The DSP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DSP converter.
