The .DAL file extension primarily acts as a container for proprietary data across several completely unrelated hardware and software systems. Most commonly, it is a keyboard registration data file used by Casio CT-X series keyboards to store user presets, customized tones, and rhythms. Alternatively, it serves as a proprietary address book file for DYMO Label Software, or as a Data Acquisition Log generated by Honeywell or Gas Clip Technologies industrial gas detectors. In rare cases, it stores satellite receiver menu images or Android Dalvik Debug Monitor Server (DDMS) profile data.
Because .DAL is a fragmented, multi-use extension for various proprietary formats, these files are notoriously difficult to use outside of their native hardware or software ecosystem.
