To convert other file formats to the "Source Code" file type, you need software like Visual Studio or a similar tool.
About CXX files
Most .CXX files are plain text source code files written in the C++ programming language. While standard for developers using GCC or Microsoft Visual Studio, these files present significant friction for non-developers or documentation workflows. You cannot simply double-click to "run" them; they must be compiled into an executable first. Furthermore, opening them in a standard text editor like Notepad often results in poor readability due to a lack of syntax highlighting and formatting preservation.
To share code logic with stakeholders or archive projects, users often convert .CXX files to PDF (for immutable documentation) or HTML (for web publication). This preserves the structure without requiring the recipient to install a heavy IDE.
Note: A distinct subset of .CXX files are configuration backups for Comelit security apps. These are actually renamed ZIP archives. If you cannot open your file in a text editor, it is likely a compressed backup. In this case, converting or renaming it to ZIP allows you to extract and inspect the internal configuration data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CXX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CXX file to JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO, RS or SWIFT, you can use Visual Studio or similar software from the "C++ Source Code" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to CXX, try Visual Studio or another comparable tool in the "C++ Source Code" category.
The CXX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CXX converter.
