About CTG files

The .CTG extension primarily represents the Canon Digital Camera Catalog File, a system index generated by Canon digital cameras. These files are typically found in the CANONMSC folder on memory cards (SD/CF) and store metadata, thumbnail pointers, and directory structure information for the photos stored in the DCIM folder.

A common frustration for users is attempting to open these files believing they are image archives; however, they are proprietary binary or compressed text indexes that contain no usable image data. Because they are merely catalog files, they cannot be converted into visual formats like JPG or PNG. The actual images are located in the DCIM directory, usually as JPG or CR2 files.

In a medical context, .CTG stands for Cardiotocography data. This format records fetal heart rates and uterine contractions during pregnancy. Unlike the camera files, these contain valuable scientific data that researchers may need to convert to CSV, XLS, or PDF for analysis in statistical software or archiving in medical records systems.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CTG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CANONMSC, JPG, CGT, EOSMISC, CTG 2, CR2, ZIP, CTO, PDF, CRDOWNLOAD, CTF, PNG and ENC files.
