Convert a file to CTF
To convert other file formats to the "Application Archive or Catalog" file type, you need software like MATLAB Compiler or a similar tool.
About CTF files
The .CTF file extension represents multiple completely unrelated file formats, making it confusing to handle. Most commonly, it is a MATLAB Component File created by MathWorks MATLAB Compiler. In this context, it acts as a compressed archive (using a ZIP structure) containing deployed MATLAB applications and encrypted functions. Alternatively, it can be a photo album catalog for Canon CameraWindow, a media database for WhereIsIt?, or a custom interface theme for the Sony PlayStation Portable. The main disadvantage of .CTF files is format collision. Your operating system will often guess the wrong application to open it. Furthermore, MATLAB .CTF files use internal encryption to protect intellectual property, meaning you cannot easily extract the raw source code. Catalog .CTF files trap your data inside legacy, unmaintained software. For MATLAB files, renaming the extension to ZIP allows you to view the internal folder structure. For media catalogs, migrating your database requires converting to CSV or XML to prevent data loss. Drag and drop your file to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software.
Use Convert.Guru to open and convert your CTF file.
If you want to convert CTF file to CSV, PTF, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT or DB, you can use MATLAB Compiler or similar software from the "MATLAB App Deployment Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to CTF, try MATLAB Compiler or another comparable tool in the "MATLAB App Deployment Archive" category.
The CTF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CTF converter.
