About CTC files

The .ctc extension represents two distinct file types used in very different industries. Most commonly, it is a Collision Data or Chain Physics file used by the MT Framework game engine developed by Capcom. These binary files control dynamic character physics - such as moving hair, cloth, or dangling chains - in games like Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4, and Monster Hunter: World. Because they are proprietary binary files, they cannot be opened in standard 3D software like Blender or Maya without first being converted. Modders typically convert them to XML to edit physics parameters (gravity, stiffness) before converting them back for the game.

Less frequently, a .ctc file is a Command Table Configuration file used by older versions of Microsoft Visual Studio. These text-based files defined menu structures and commands for VSPackages. They are now considered deprecated; modern Visual Studio extensions use the VSCT (Visual Studio Command Table) XML format. Developers looking to maintain legacy extensions often need to convert .CTC source files into VSCT using the vsct.exe compiler included in the Visual Studio SDK.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CTC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CDR, PDF, AI, DOCX, BLEND, WRL, ANM, LPA, IST and UTC files.

The CTC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CTC converter.
