About CRV files

The .CRV file extension primarily represents a VCarve Pro Design File created by Vectric VCarve Pro. These files store 2D and 3D CNC (Computer Numerical Control) routing toolpaths, vector graphics, and design layouts. In specific scientific and engineering niches, .CRV files also function as raw curve measurement data files for electrochemistry software (VoltaLab), audio analysis (Room EQ Wizard), or material stress testing (Shimadzu). The main disadvantage of the Vectric .CRV format is its closed, proprietary nature. Built on a Microsoft Compound file structure, these files exceed standard vector capabilities and cannot be opened natively by web browsers or generic image editors. Sharing .CRV designs usually requires the recipient to own a costly specialized software license. Standard online converters fail to process .CRV files because the vector data and toolpath instructions are heavily locked and obfuscated. To make the design accessible for production or review, you should export it to standard CAD targets like DXF, SVG, or PDF. Exporting ensures the raw geometry survives for generic laser cutters or CNC machines. Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru provides a realistic workaround. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. We can inspect the file's binary layers, extract raw text or curve data, and if our analysis detects a supported embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CRV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CRV3D, CRVT, CURVE, CSV, CR2, CRVT3D, CDR, ZIP, DXF, TAP, JPG, SVG and CR3 files.

FAQ

If you want to convert CRV file to JPG, DXF, SVG, DWG, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES or SAT, you can use Vectric VCarve Pro or similar software from the "CNC Routing Toolpath Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to CRV, try Vectric VCarve Pro or another comparable tool in the "CNC Routing Toolpath Storage" category.

The CRV Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CRV converter.
