Extract text from CRV files

To convert other file formats to the "CNC Toolpath & Design" file type, you need software like Vectric VCarve Pro or a similar tool.
A .CRV file is primarily a CNC design project created by Vectric VCarve Pro or Aspire. These files store 2D vector layouts, 3D modeling components, and specific toolpath instructions for CNC routing and milling machines.
The main challenge with .CRV files is their proprietary lock-in. They utilize a complex binary structure (often Microsoft Compound File format) that is completely incompatible with industry-standard CAD tools like AutoCAD or vector editors like Adobe Illustrator. Furthermore, Vectric software enforces strict version locking, meaning a file saved in a newer version cannot be opened in an older one. This makes sharing files with clients for approval or collaborating with other machinists difficult without converting.
For engineering and machining, the best approach is converting .CRV to DXF or DWG. For graphic design or web preview, convert to EPS, AI, or SVG. For simple client proofs, PDF is the ideal target. Note that approximately 15% of .CRV files may be scientific data logs from software like VoltaLab or Kistler; these should be converted to CSV or XLSX for analysis in Microsoft Excel.
