A .contact file is an XML-based data container introduced by Microsoft with Windows Vista to replace the older WAB address book format. These files act as individual cards for storing personal details - including names, email addresses, phone numbers, and images - within the legacy Windows Contacts folder. While the data is structured text, the format poses significant challenges for modern users: files are generated individually (one per person) rather than as a single database, making bulk management tedious.
