The .cmz extension is a classic example of a filename collision, predominantly used in the manufacturing and design sectors. Most commonly, it represents a CAD cutting pattern generated by Comelz systems, which are widely used in the footwear and leather goods industries for automated cutting. These files contain vector paths and machine instructions specific to Comelz hardware, making them notoriously difficult to open without the proprietary Caligola or Comelz native software. Users often find themselves locked out of their own design data due to this hardware dependency.
Alternatively, your file might be a 3D interior design project created by ArredoCAD, containing room layouts, furniture models, and textures. In rare cases, it is simply a compressed backup from Accomplish CashManager or a workspace file from C-Motion Visual3D.
