About CMX files
The .CMX file format is primarily a Corel Metafile Exchange Image, used by CorelDRAW to store vector graphics and presentation exchange data. Built on the RIFF container, it was heavily used in older versions of Corel software to share clipart and vector artwork. The major drawback of .CMX is its proprietary nature and legacy status. Very few modern design applications fully support it outside the Corel ecosystem. If you do not have an active, paid CorelDRAW license, viewing or editing these files is extremely difficult. Furthermore, web browsers do not support .CMX, making it useless for web publishing. In very rare cases, the file might instead be an XML-based CAD measurement data file for Causeway CADMeasure. To use the standard vector artwork in other tools, you must convert it. For vector editing in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape, convert .CMX to SVG or EPS. For document sharing and archiving, PDF is the best choice. For web use, rasterizing it to WebP or PNG is recommended.
