About BCC files

The .bcc extension is shared by two distinct file types that often cause confusion due to their proprietary nature.

1. Broderbund Calendar Creator File (Primary)

Most commonly, a .bcc file is a project created by older versions (specifically versions 9 through 12) of Broderbund Calendar Creator. These files store personalized layouts, event data, and embedded images.

The Problem: This is a classic "zombie" format. Modern versions of the software (marketed as "The All New Calendar Creator") often cannot open legacy .bcc files due to a complete rewrite of the code base. Users are often left with files they cannot view or print. They are proprietary binary containers (Microsoft Compound format) and cannot be opened in Microsoft Word or web browsers.

The Solution:

For Archiving: If you still have access to the old software, the only reliable conversion method is to use the "Print" function and select a virtual printer to save as PDF.
For Recovery: Without the original software, these files are difficult to parse.

2. Aplikasi GPP Payroll Backup (Secondary)

The second common use is an "ADK Backup" for Aplikasi GPP, a payroll application used by Indonesian government institutions (Satker).

The Solution: These files are typically standard ZIP archives in disguise. You can often simply rename the extension from .bcc to zip to extract the internal SQL or text data without needing the original government software.
