About B6T files
A .B6T file is a proprietary track information file generated by BlindWrite, a disc backup utility developed by VSO Software. Specifically associated with version 6 of the software, this format stores the "topology" or physical structure of a CD, DVD, or Blu-ray disc. It is designed to preserve exact disc geometry, which is critical for backing up media protected by systems like SecuROM or SafeDisc. A .B6T file is not a standalone disc image; it functions as a map that must be paired with a corresponding B6I file (which contains the actual binary data).
Handling .B6T files presents significant friction for modern users because the format is proprietary and largely obsolete. Unlike the universal ISO format, .B6T images cannot be mounted natively by Windows or macOS operating systems. They require specific third-party emulation software, such as Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%, to be recognized. Furthermore, simply possessing the .B6T file without its B6I partner renders the data inaccessible, leading to frequent "file not found" errors.
To ensure long-term access and compatibility, users should convert .B6T/B6I pairs into standard formats. For general archiving and use with emulators, converting to ISO is the gold standard. If you need to preserve the raw binary structure for burning to physical media later, converting to BIN and CUE is the preferred method.
Convert.Guru analyzes your B6T file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted B6I, ZIP, BWT, BWI, B5I and ISO files.
The B6T Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our B6T converter.
