About B64 files
A .b64 file is a Base64 encoded file. Base64 is an encoding scheme used to represent binary data in an ASCII string format. It is primarily used within the MIME standard to embed binary files, like images or documents, into text-based protocols such as email, XML, or JSON. Common specific uses include tax documents for the AFIP SICORE system and automotive diagnostic logs from Volkswagen Group ODIS software. You can decode these files using archiving tools like 7-Zip, command-line utilities like OpenSSL, or email clients like Microsoft Outlook. The main disadvantage of the .b64 format is that it is not meant to be opened directly by end-users. The encoding process increases the file size by approximately 33 percent compared to the original binary data. Furthermore, without decoding, the content is just a meaningless string of characters. You must convert and decode it back to its original binary state to read the document, view the image, or extract the archive. To use the actual data, you need to decode the .b64 file to its native format. For archived data, convert to ZIP or GZ. If it is an encoded document or tax receipt, convert to PDF. For embedded images, decode to JPG or PNG.
Convert.Guru analyzes your B64 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert B64 file to IMAGE, FILE, TEXT, PDF, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ or LZMA, you can use 7-Zip or similar software from the "Base64 Encoded Binary Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The B64 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our B64 converter.
