About ALP files
The .alp extension serves two very different, high-value professional sectors, often leading to confusion. Most commonly, it acts as an Ableton Live Pack, a compressed archive used by music producers to install loops, samples, and instrument presets into Ableton Live. While efficient for distribution, this format is a proprietary 'black box.' You cannot simply double-click to view the contents or drag a sample directly into another DAW like FL Studio or Logic Pro without first installing the pack into the Ableton library - a process that consumes time and disk space. Users frequently need to convert these to standard ZIP archives or extract the internal WAV and AIF audio files for cross-platform use.
Alternatively, in the engineering world, an .alp file is a simulation project created by AnyLogic. These are XML-based definitions of complex models. The main friction here is version dependency; older AnyLogic viewers may fail to open newer .alp files. Converting these files often means parsing the internal XML to a human-readable TXT or CSV format to audit model parameters without launching the heavy simulation environment.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ALP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted ALPS, ALS, XML, JPG, ADG and HES files.

The ALP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ALP converter.
