Extract text from Ableton Live or AnyLogic files (ALP)

To convert other file formats to the "Live Pack & Project File" file type, you need software like Ableton Live or a similar tool.
An .alp file most commonly functions as an Ableton Live Pack, which is a compressed archive containing music production assets like sounds, presets, and ALS project files. Alternatively, it serves as an AnyLogic Simulation Project file, utilizing an XML structure to store advanced business or engineering simulation models. Less commonly, the format is used for Android Lua Script projects via AndLua IDE, GameKing asset archives, or Kesa ALADIN chimney calculation projects.
Opening these files poses a major challenge. Ableton Live Packs are proprietary, frequently exceed several gigabytes, and require an active Ableton Live license to install correctly. They are entirely unreadable by competing DAWs like FL Studio or Logic Pro out of the box. Similarly, AnyLogic models enforce vendor lock-in, requiring expensive enterprise simulation software to execute the logic.
Converting an .alp file depends entirely on its origin. For Ableton packs, users generally want to extract the underlying WAV, AIF, or MID files to use in other software. Standard online converters fail to process these because they do not recognize the specific archive wrapper. However, because Ableton packs utilize GZIP compression natively, bypassing the wrapper is sometimes possible. For AnyLogic projects, parsing the data to standard XML or TXT is the primary conversion route. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, like a standard ZIP or GZIP stream, viewing or extracting the contents may still be possible without the original software.
