Convert a file to XST
To convert other file formats to the "Printer Job Configuration" file type, you need software like Xerox WorkCentre or a similar tool.
About XST files
The .XST extension is most frequently associated with Xerox Scan Templates, generated by multifunction printers like the Xerox WorkCentre series (e.g., 7830/7855). These files contain configuration data - such as resolution, color mode, and destination paths - used to automate scanning jobs. The real problem for users is that an .XST file is not a distinct document containing your scanned image; it is merely the instruction set for the printer. You cannot "open" it to see a scanned picture. Another common variant is the Structured Text exchange file used by Schneider Electric in EcoStruxure Control Expert (formerly Unity Pro) for industrial automation. These are often XML-based text files containing PLC programming logic. Because these formats are specialized, they require proprietary software to execute. However, since they are often text-based under the hood, the most practical solution for viewing or archiving is to convert them to TXT to inspect the raw configuration/code, or to PDF for permanent documentation without needing expensive industrial software installed.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XST file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert XST file to PDF, INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV or PROPERTIES, you can use Xerox WorkCentre or similar software from the "Printer Configuration Template" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to XST, try Xerox WorkCentre or another comparable tool in the "Printer Configuration Template" category.
The XST Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XST converter.
