About XOPP files
The .XOPP file format is a digital note-taking container designed exclusively for Xournal++. It stores handwritten notes, text annotations, audio clips, and vector strokes, typically overlaid on a background PDF.
The main disadvantage of the .XOPP format is its highly specific ecosystem. It is restricted to the Xournal++ software. You cannot open these files in standard document viewers, web browsers, or on most mobile devices without installing the exact application. Sharing a raw .XOPP file often frustrates recipients who lack the software to view it. Furthermore, because it is essentially a GZIP-compressed XML file, it requires a dedicated parser to render the visual elements correctly.
To make your notes accessible, you must convert them. For sharing, archiving, or printing, convert to PDF to permanently lock in your handwriting and background annotations. For web embedding, convert to vector SVG files or standard PNG raster images. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XOPP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert XOPP file to PDF, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, CAB, ACE or ARJ, you can use Xournal++ or similar software from the "Digital Note-Taking" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert XXE, 7Z, Z, PAK, LHA, DEB, UUE, TAR, LZH, ZIP, PKG or RAR files to XOPP, try Xournal++ or another comparable tool in the "Digital Note-Taking" category.
The XOPP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XOPP converter.
