About WF1 files

The .WF1 file format is the native binary container for EViews (formerly MicroTSP), a specialized statistical software package used primarily for econometric analysis, forecasting, and time-series estimation. These files function as comprehensive project containers, storing not just raw data, but also equation objects, graphs, series definitions, and model specifications in a structured hierarchy. While powerful for statistical modeling, the .WF1 format presents significant interoperability challenges. It is a closed, proprietary binary file that cannot be opened by standard spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel or text editors. This creates a "vendor lock-in" scenario where sharing data with colleagues who do not possess a costly EViews license is impossible without conversion. Furthermore, integrating this data into modern data science pipelines (using Python or R) often requires an intermediate step. To overcome these barriers, the best practice is to convert .WF1 files to XLSX for general reporting and viewing, CSV for universal database compatibility, or DTA for cross-validation in Stata.

Convert.Guru analyzes your WF1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted WF, CSV, ZIP, TXT, OPJU, AAE, SPV, SAV, ETS, BHD and XLS files.

The WF1 Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WF1 converter.
