About VTC files

The .VTC file format has multiple distinct technical uses depending on the original software environment. The most common variant is a Visual Thinking Chart file used by Visual-Tools to store chart and grid data. In the automotive sector, .VTC represents a Vehicle Total Configuration file generated by Volvo VIDA software, which stores complex diagnostic and vehicle profile configurations. Additionally, in the financial sector, .VTC acts as a Visual Test Chart file - often GZIP compressed - utilized by the MetaTrader algorithmic trading platform.

The primary disadvantage of the .VTC format is its highly specialized, proprietary nature. Whether dealing with automotive diagnostics, financial trading charts, or GPS vehicle tracking records (like those from Pointer Telocation Cellocator), these files are strictly locked to their respective ecosystems. They cannot be opened by standard web browsers, text editors, or generic spreadsheet applications without specialized parsers or paid software licenses. For example, accessing a Volvo configuration file requires a costly and restricted software environment.

Conversion targets depend heavily on the file's exact origin. Data charts and trading test grids might ideally be extracted to CSV or XML for universal analysis in standard spreadsheet tools. However, configuration and telemetry files are generally not safely convertible without breaking system compatibility.

Because these are proprietary, closed-source, or embedded formats, third-party conversion is incredibly difficult. Standard online converters fail to process them correctly since they lack the proprietary parsers. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the internal data. However, just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the exact format, view it, and convert it when possible. Our platform inspects the raw binary or text data; if our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format (like a standard GZIP archive), viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VTC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted IFO, BUP, MP4, FINAL, IVT and ARR files.
