About VSB files
The .vsb file extension is heavily overloaded, most commonly acting as a Vehicle Spy Binary log file generated by Vehicle Spy, a network analysis tool by Intrepid Control Systems. These files store raw, binary logs of vehicle network messages (like CAN, LIN, or FlexRay traffic) recorded during testing. Alternatively, the format is frequently used as a game audio sound bank handled by Wwise, as a Viewshape 3D model viewer scene (which is internally just a ZIP archive), or as a KORG synthesizer system update file. Because these files serve completely unrelated industries, they pose severe usability challenges. The primary disadvantage of a .vsb vehicle log is its proprietary, closed nature; it is heavily encoded and requires an expensive software license to decode. Similarly, game sound banks bundle hundreds of tracks into an opaque container that standard media players cannot read, and 3D scenes are locked to specific web viewers. Converting these files is often mandatory to make the data usable elsewhere. For vehicle logs, the best conversion target is CSV or ASC for data analysis in tools like Excel. For game audio banks, extraction to standard WAV or MP3 is standard practice. For Viewshape scenes, you can often extract the internal archive to retrieve universal 3D models like OBJ.
