About VND files
The .vnd file extension is highly fragmented and represents several completely different formats. Most commonly, it is an obfuscated or improperly named attachment downloaded from Signal Messenger. In these cases, the file is usually a standard ZIP archive, image, or document that lost its original extension during the download process. Another major use case for .vnd files is in the manufacturing industry, where they serve as proprietary CAD/CAM and engraving designs used by software like Gravograph, Type3, and Vision Engraving & Routing. Additionally, users sometimes encounter .vnd files when downloading Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, typically caused by web server MIME type errors (e.g., application/vnd.ms-powerpoint). These proprietary engraving and CAD formats present massive disadvantages. They are strictly closed-source, heavily vendor-locked, and cannot be opened without expensive, specialized software suites. You cannot view them natively on Windows or macOS. Signal attachment .vnd files are equally frustrating, as the operating system does not know which application to use. If your .vnd is an engraving file, converting it to standard vector formats like DXF, SVG, or PDF is highly recommended for sharing and viewing. If it is a Signal attachment, simply renaming the extension to ZIP or extracting it often resolves the issue. Because the CAD/CAM variants of this format are closed and proprietary, standard online converters fail to process them. Often, only the original Gravotech or Vision software can properly read or export the geometric data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VND file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The VND Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VND converter.
