About SHEET files
A .sheet file is most frequently an Office Open XML spreadsheet that was accidentally saved with an incorrect extension. These files are identical to standard XLSX files created by Microsoft Excel. In rare cases, the .sheet extension is intentionally used for game music sheet files in titles like Sky: Children of the Light or Synth Riders. The primary reason you encounter the spreadsheet variant is a download glitch. When downloading a document from a web browser, email client, or API, the system relies on the file's MIME type - specifically application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet. If the download process is interrupted or poorly configured, the operating system lazily assigns the last word, "sheet", as the file extension instead of the proper XLSX. This creates a highly frustrating real-world limitation. Because .sheet is not a registered extension on Windows or macOS, double-clicking the file results in an "unrecognized file format" error. The data inside is perfectly valid, but the operating system and most standard online converters will refuse to process it simply because they do not recognize the name. To solve this, your best target format is XLSX to restore native compatibility. If you need to extract the raw data for a database, convert the file to CSV. For a universally readable, fixed-layout document, PDF is the optimal target. Standard tools fail here because they rely strictly on the file extension. Our system scans the internal ZIP structure and XML files, accurately recognizing it as an Excel spreadsheet despite the misnamed extension, allowing you to bypass OS limitations.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SHEET file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The SHEET Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SHEET converter.
