About VNA files
The .VNA extension is a classic example of a file format collision, serving two completely distinct professional sectors. Most commonly (approx. 44%), a .VNA file contains raw measurement data generated by Anritsu handheld Vector Network Analyzers (such as the Site Master or VNA Master series). These files store complex microwave measurements like S-parameters, VSWR, and cable loss data. The frustration for engineers is that this proprietary binary format is unreadable by standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or generic simulation tools without specific conversion utilities. Users typically need to convert these measurement logs into standard CSV (for analysis), S2P (Touchstone format for RF simulation), or PDF (for client reporting).
Alternatively, in the academic and sociological research fields, a .VNA file is a text-based network dataset used by NetDraw (often bundled with UCINET). These files define 'nodes' and 'ties' to visualize social networks or organizational structures. While these are technically plain text, they are formatted specifically for NetDraw's parser. Users often struggle to share these visualizations with non-academics, driving the need to convert the rendered graph into raster images like JPG, PNG, or portable documents like PDF for publication.
Less frequently, you might encounter a .VNA file from the Verinice ISMS tool. In this specific case, the file is simply a standard ZIP archive in disguise. Renaming the extension to ZIP often allows you to extract the underlying XML and content data without specialized software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VNA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert VNA file to JPG, PDF, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, TIF, WEBP, ICO, CUR, PSD or PSB, you can use Anritsu Software Tool Box or similar software from the "Vector Network Analyzer Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert RAW, PNG, AI, NEF, PSB, DNG, SVG, GIF, EPS, JPG, ARW or PDF files to VNA, try Anritsu Software Tool Box or another comparable tool in the "Vector Network Analyzer Data" category.
The VNA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VNA converter.
