About USZ files

A .USZ file is a zipped performance testing script created by Micro Focus LoadRunner. LoadRunner's Virtual User Generator (VuGen) uses this format to package a complete testing script, including the source code, runtime settings, parameter lists, and recorded HTTP traffic into a single, shareable archive. The major disadvantage of the .USZ format is its proprietary ecosystem. Opening and executing these tests natively requires an expensive, commercial license for LoadRunner. If a colleague sends you a .USZ file and you only need to review the code or extract test data, installing gigabytes of enterprise software is highly impractical. Furthermore, web browsers and standard text editors cannot read the file directly because the container is compressed binary data. Because the underlying file structure is a standard ZIP archive, your best conversion target is usually ZIP. By converting or simply extracting the file, you gain access to the internal C, JAVA, or PRM files. If you are migrating away from LoadRunner, you will need these raw script files to manually translate the logic into open-source alternatives like JMeter (JMX).
