About UCM files

The .ucm extension primarily refers to a Unicode Character Map file, a plain text format used by ICU (International Components for Unicode) to define mapping tables between different character encodings and Unicode. These files are essential for developers and linguists working on software localization, but their raw text format can be difficult to manage without the right tools. Users often need to convert them into compiled CNV binary files for application use, or to XML and TXT for easier documentation and editing.

A secondary, completely different use case is the Crazy Machines Model file. These are proprietary 3D game assets used by the physics puzzle game Crazy Machines. Unlike the text-based ICU files, these are binary and locked to the game engine, making them impossible to convert to standard 3D formats like OBJ or FBX without specialized modding tools. Users frequently run into problems when trying to open these with standard image viewers or text editors, resulting in garbled data or error messages.

Convert.Guru analyzes your UCM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
