About TTX files
The .ttx extension serves three distinct industries, often causing confusion. Most commonly, it is a secure data log generated by Sensitech TempTale monitors used in cold chain logistics to track temperature during shipping. These files are encrypted and proprietary; while they ensure data integrity for auditors, they are inaccessible without the specific TempTale Manager desktop software, making it difficult to view data in standard tools like Microsoft Excel. Users typically convert these to PDF for compliance reporting or CSV/XLSX for raw data analysis.
Alternatively, in the localization industry, a .ttx file is a legacy bilingual document created by Trados TagEditor (now part of RWS Trados Studio). These XML-based files contain both source and target text segments. Translators often struggle with them because modern CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools have moved to SDLXLIFF, requiring conversion to TMX (Translation Memory eXchange) or the final target format (e.g., DOCX) to retrieve the work.
Finally, developers use .ttx as an XML definition of a font file, created by FontTools. While human-readable, these text files cannot be installed on an operating system. To use the font, users must compile the .ttx back into a binary TTF or OTF file using the appropriate command-line tools.

The TTX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TTX converter.
