About TSD files
A .tsd file is primarily a Time-Stamped Data container used to securely wrap a digitally signed document. Commonly generated by digital signature utilities like ArubaSign and GoSign, it complies with the ETSI Time-Stamp Protocol (RFC 3161) and CAdES standards. Less frequently, the .tsd extension is used for Tekla Structural Designer models, TomTom spatial data, HP SimplePass backups, and Tab Saver browser sessions.
To natively open and verify signature-based .tsd files, users are forced to install specialized PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) software. This is the biggest disadvantage of the format: it is highly restrictive. You cannot simply open a .tsd file in your web browser or a standard word processor. If you try to open it in a basic text editor, you will be met with unreadable binary data because the inner file (usually a PDF or XML) is cryptographically encapsulated. Furthermore, downloading and maintaining specialized signature software simply to read a contract is a massive hassle for the average user.
To bypass these limitations and extract the readable payload, you need to convert or unpack the .tsd container. For easy sharing and viewing, extract the encapsulated document to a standard PDF. If the file is an archive or database extract (like Techkon color data or a Tab Saver session), you can convert it to ZIP or JSON.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TSD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TSD file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use ArubaSign or similar software from the "Digitally Signed Document Container" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The TSD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TSD converter.
