The .TRP file extension primarily represents an HD Video Transport Stream created by digital Personal Video Recorders (PVR) and Digital Video Recorders (DVR). It uses the MPEG-2 Part 1 Transport Stream protocol to multiplex audio and video data for broadcast and recording. A secondary, but common, use for .TRP files is as a drive test log generated by Ascom TEMS Investigation or Ericsson Network Planner software, used by telecom engineers to map mobile network coverage. Less commonly, it acts as an encrypted PlayStation Trophy data file for Sony consoles.
