About TMC files
The .TMC file extension is a notorious example of extension collision, primarily used for completely different purposes across gaming, engineering, and data science. The most common variant is a proprietary 3D model file used by the video game Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 developed by Koei Tecmo. Other frequent uses include hydraulic simulation results generated by the open-source Telemac-Mascaret software suite, oscilloscope waveform data from Tektronix hardware, and measurement configuration files for Vector CANoe/CANalyzer. These files pose immense challenges for users because they are highly proprietary, lack native operating system support, and usually require either expensive specialized software or niche community-built tools (like TMC Editor) to open. If you have a 3D .TMC file, it is trapped within the game engine's specific rendering logic, making it useless for standard 3D artists. If you have a Telemac-Mascaret or Tektronix .TMC file, the data is locked behind specialized engineering environments. You cannot simply open these files in a web browser or a standard text editor without seeing garbled binary data unless it is the less common TwinCAT Module Class UTF-8 variant. To overcome these limitations, you must convert the file based on its actual internal format. For Dead or Alive 3D models, converting to standard OBJ, FBX, or GLTF is essential for editing in Blender or Unity. For Telemac simulation results or Tektronix waveforms, converting the data to plain CSV, JSON, or TXT is the pragmatic choice for analysis in Excel, Python, or MATLAB. Drag and drop your file to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software. convert.guru will parse the file signature and recommend the optimal target format.

The TMC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TMC converter.
