Convert a file to MCM
To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Video or CAD File" file type, you need software like Macroscop VMS or a similar tool.
About MCM files
The .MCM file format is highly fragmented and used for multiple disconnected purposes. Primarily, it serves as a proprietary video surveillance export file generated by Video Management Software (VMS) like Macroscop or Eocortex. Alternatively, it is used as an IC package design file for circuit board layouts in Cadence Allegro Package Designer, or as a binary character set file for the MAX7456 OSD chip commonly used in drone On-Screen Displays.
Opening these files requires highly specialized software. Video variants require the proprietary Macroscop or Eocortex desktop clients. CAD variants require Cadence Allegro, and OSD variants need a MAX7456 Font Generator.
The real-world disadvantages of the .MCM format are severe. Surveillance video variants are intentionally locked down with proprietary wrappers or encryption to maintain an untampered chain of evidence. You cannot play them in standard media players like VLC, nor will they load in web browsers. Standard online video converters will fail instantly because they cannot decode the proprietary file structure. Similarly, the CAD versions require extremely expensive commercial licenses just to view the schematics.
Users typically need to convert surveillance .MCM files to standard MP4 or AVI files so that police or clients can view the footage. For the CAD variant, engineers usually need to export the routing data to standard DXF or Gerber (.GBR) formats for manufacturing.
Because this file format is heavily restricted and closed-source, it is difficult to open or convert online. Usually, only the original software can properly read or export the data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MCM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MCM file to AWG, TMC, MLD, MAF, BCM, OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX, BLEND or MA, you can use Macroscop VMS or similar software from the "Video Surveillance & IC Design" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to MCM, try Macroscop VMS or another comparable tool in the "Video Surveillance & IC Design" category.
The MCM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MCM converter.
