About TMB files

The .tmb file extension serves multiple distinct purposes, most notably as an application backup file for TiviMate IPTV Player and as a temporary image thumbnail generated by Panasonic digital cameras. In the context of TiviMate, these files store user settings, playlists, and preferences in a compressed format. Under the hood, a TiviMate .tmb file is actually a standard ZIP archive. For Panasonic cameras, the file contains low-resolution preview images (often standard JPG data) used to quickly display photos on the camera screen without loading the full raw or high-res image. Other software, like the game Trombone Champ or the testing tool Tessy, use this extension for custom song charts (stored as JSON) or test databases (stored as GZIP). The primary disadvantage of the .tmb format is its ambiguity and lack of native support in standard operating systems. Double-clicking a .tmb file rarely opens it correctly because Windows or macOS cannot definitively know which application created it. If the file is a TiviMate backup, you must restore it from within the TiviMate app itself, or manually rename the extension to ZIP to extract the internal configuration files. If it is a camera thumbnail, the image quality is exceptionally low, making it useless for printing or professional editing. If you need to access the contents of a .tmb file, your best conversion targets depend on its origin. TiviMate backups should be converted or renamed to ZIP to view the internal XML or text files. Camera thumbnails can be converted to JPG to open in any standard image viewer. Custom song charts can be processed as JSON files. Standard online converters frequently fail to process .tmb files because they rely strictly on the file extension rather than analyzing the internal data structure. Our system will analyze the binary signature of your specific .tmb file. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TMB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
