Extract text from Timeline files (TL)

To convert other file formats to the "Interactive Timeline Data" file type, you need software like Tiki-Toki or a similar tool.
A .TL file typically functions as an Interactive Timeline data file for Tiki-Toki, a Thermal Label definition file for the Neodynamic ThermalLabel SDK, an Adobe Audition cache file, or a CNC machine tool list for Estlcam.
To open or modify these files, you generally need the specific parent application, though some of these formats use standard underlying structures. For example, Tiki-Toki timelines are essentially renamed ZIP archives, while Neodynamic label definitions are structured using standard XML.
The main disadvantage of the .TL format is its fragmented, proprietary nature. Users often download a .TL file expecting a universal document, only to find it requires a specific, often paid, application to render visually. Furthermore, Adobe Audition .TL files are merely temporary session caches; they do not contain actual audio data, which causes endless frustration for users trying to recover lost audio.
For timeline data, the best conversion targets are ZIP to extract raw media, or CSV and JSON for text data extraction. For thermal labels, converting to standard XML or TXT allows for code inspection. Audition cache files cannot be converted to media formats like MP3 or WAV.
Because the ".TL" extension is shared across completely unrelated software ecosystems (audio, CNC routing, timelines, and label printing), this file format is difficult to open or convert blindly.
