Convert CDN to another file type
To convert CDN navigation files to another format, you need Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro or other GIS software.
Convert a file to CDN
To convert other file formats to the "Flight Procedure Database" file type, you need software like Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro or a similar tool.
About CDN files
A .CDN file is most frequently an aeronautical navigation data file generated by Jeppesen (a Boeing company). These files contain critical flight procedure data, including terminal charts, airport diagrams, and airway manuals, designed for use in Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) like Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro or proprietary avionics systems.
The Problem: Users often attempt to open these files hoping to see a PDF-style map or chart. However, .cdn files are not static images; they are specialized, often encrypted, database components meant to be interpreted by flight hardware or specific charting software. They are strictly proprietary, tied to expensive subscriptions, and updated every 28 days (AIRAC cycle). You cannot simply open them in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat.
The Solution:
For Viewing/Printing: You must import the file into the Jeppesen application (e.g., JeppView). From there, you can use the "Print" function to save the chart as a PDF for easy sharing or archiving.
For Archiving: Since the raw .cdn file becomes obsolete quickly, converting the rendered charts to PDF/A is the only way to preserve the visual data long-term.
Legacy Context: If you are not a pilot and found this file on an old computer, it might be a CD/DVD label project file from the discontinued Click! DVD software. In that rare case, no modern converter exists, and you would need the original Windows XP-era software to retrieve the design.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CDN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CDN file to CIA, PKR, MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, 3GP or OGV, you can use Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro or similar software from the "Aeronautical Navigation Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MTS, MOV, RMVB, DIVX, RM, H264, TS, WMV, VOB, MP4, XVID or AVI files to CDN, try Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro or another comparable tool in the "Aeronautical Navigation Data" category.
The CDN Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CDN converter.
