Convert TC to another file type
To convert your TC file to another format, you need TrueCrypt or other Disk Image software.
Convert a file to TC
To convert other file formats to the "Encrypted Volume Container" file type, you need software like TrueCrypt or a similar tool.
About TC files
A .tc file is primarily associated with TrueCrypt, a discontinued open-source disk encryption utility, acting as an encrypted virtual disk volume. These files function as secure containers (similar to a password-protected zip or a mounted hard drive) that hold sensitive documents, images, and system files.
The Problem: Accessibility and Obsolescence
Because TrueCrypt was abruptly abandoned in 2014 due to security concerns, users often struggle to access legacy .tc volumes on modern operating systems like Windows 11 or macOS. The file itself is a locked binary blob; it cannot be "opened" like a Word document. It requires mounting via specific software like VeraCrypt (which supports legacy TrueCrypt volumes) to view the contents. Furthermore, if the file is a Traffic Count data file (JSON-based) or a Katalon Studio test case, standard text editors may display unformatted, hard-to-read code that is unsuitable for presentation.
The Solution: Extraction and Conversion
For TrueCrypt volumes, the goal is not to convert the container itself, but to decrypt and extract the internal files for archiving in future-proof formats like PDF/A or standard image formats like JPG.
For Traffic Count or Tellico files, the data is often structured text (JSON/XML). The best workflow is converting these datasets into human-readable formats:
For Analysis: Convert data-heavy .tc files to Microsoft Excel (.XLSX) or CSV to manage tables and statistics.
For Reporting: Convert test cases or logs to PDF for clean, shareable documentation.
For Archiving: Extract contents from encrypted containers to standard folders to avoid losing access due to software incompatibility.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TC file to SC, TF, PKR, FAA, ISO, IMG, DMG, VHD, VMDK, VDI, HDD or QCOW, you can use TrueCrypt or similar software from the "Encrypted Virtual Disk" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert VFD, DMG, OVA, IMA, VBOX, ADF, PVS, VHD, OVF, ISO, DSK or IMG files to TC, try TrueCrypt or another comparable tool in the "Encrypted Virtual Disk" category.
The TC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TC converter.
