Convert a file to SWL
To convert other file formats to the "ArcGIS Style Library" file type, you need software like ArcGIS Pro or a similar tool.
About SWL files
The .SWL file extension most commonly functions as a Style Swatch Library used by ArcGIS, a geographic information system (GIS) maintained by Esri. These files store map symbology, color ramps, and style preferences to maintain visual consistency across maps. Another frequent use is as a game animation asset file for Playrix games or a SpriteWidget Library. Occasionally, it acts as an SQLite database for legacy Spb Wallet software or a Macromedia Flash animation project in Sothink SWF Quicker.
Users often want to convert .SWL files to extract embedded images (like PNG) from game assets, or to port mapping symbology to different GIS systems like QGIS using standard formats like SLD or XML. However, the .SWL format is highly proprietary and varies drastically depending on the software that created it. An ArcGIS .SWL cannot be read by an animation tool, and vice versa. There is no universal viewer for this extension.
Because these are closed formats, standard online converters usually fail. Often, only the original software can correctly interpret or export the data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SWL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SWL file to MBL, HTML, HTM, CSS, JS, PHP, ASP, ASPX, JSP, JSPX, PY or RB, you can use ArcGIS Pro or similar software from the "Style Swatch Library Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert RSS, CSS, CGI, SITEMAP, PL, WEBMANIFEST, JSON, JS, XML, HTML, ICO or HTM files to SWL, try ArcGIS Pro or another comparable tool in the "Style Swatch Library Storage" category.
The SWL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SWL converter.
