About SWIFT files
The .SWIFT file extension contains plain text source code written in the Swift programming language. Developers use these files primarily to build native applications for iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. By default, these files are created, edited, and compiled within Xcode, Apple's official integrated development environment (IDE).
While .SWIFT files are technically plain text, they present immediate challenges for non-programmers. Opening them without a dedicated code editor strips away syntax highlighting, making the raw logic extremely difficult to read. Furthermore, compiling the code into a working application absolutely requires a Mac environment and Xcode, locking out users on Windows or Linux operating systems.
To share the code for documentation, review, or printing, you should convert .SWIFT files to TXT (plain text), MD (Markdown for developer sharing), or PDF (which preserves formatting and prevents accidental modification). You cannot simply convert a .SWIFT file directly into an executable like an EXE or APK because the code must be compiled specifically for Apple's ecosystem.
Converting source code between programming languages (like Swift to Objective-C) is notoriously difficult. It requires complex transpilation software and almost always results in broken logic that needs manual rewriting. However, you can bypass these hurdles for viewing and sharing. Just drag and drop your .SWIFT file onto convert.guru to instantly identify the format, inspect the plain text code inside, and safely convert it to readable document formats if supported.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SWIFT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SWIFT file to JAVA, DART, JS, TS, PY, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO or RS, you can use Xcode or similar software from the "Source Code Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS, TS or RS files to SWIFT, try Xcode or another comparable tool in the "Source Code Storage" category.
The SWIFT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SWIFT converter.
