Convert DYLIB to another file type
To convert your DYLIB file to another format, you need Apple Xcode or other System software.
Convert a file to DYLIB
To convert other file formats to the "Shared Library" file type, you need software like Apple Xcode or a similar tool.
About DYLIB files
A .DYLIB file is a Mach-O Dynamic Library, the standard shared library format used by Apple macOS and iOS operating systems. Functionally equivalent to DLL files on Windows or SO files on Linux, these binaries contain compiled code, data, and resources that multiple applications can load simultaneously at runtime to save memory and disk space.
Because .DYLIB files are compiled binaries specific to the Mach-O architecture, they present significant challenges for general users: they are unreadable to humans, incompatible with Windows or Linux systems, and cannot be "opened" like a document. Users typically encounter them only when an application crashes due to a "missing library" error or when exploring application bundles. While you cannot convert a .DYLIB into a usable DLL or executable EXE without recompiling the original source code, developers and curious users often need to "convert" the binary data into readable formats for inspection.
Common Conversion Targets:
For Analysis/Debugging: Convert to TXT (Disassembly/Strings) to inspect function names and headers.
For Forensics: Convert to Hex Dump to view raw binary data.
For Transfer: Wrap in ZIP or .TAR.GZ to preserve file permissions during transfer, as moving raw .dylib files across non-Unix file systems can strip executable flags. Apple Silicon) and inspect the contents without needing complex command-line tools.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DYLIB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DYLIB file to DEB, FRAMEWORK, SO, A, JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS or PHP, you can use Apple Xcode or similar software from the "Dynamic Code Linking" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, PS1, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to DYLIB, try Apple Xcode or another comparable tool in the "Dynamic Code Linking" category.
The DYLIB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DYLIB converter.
